I have more than a decade of experience in clinical psychoanalysis for individual adults, couples and seniors. I am also a supervisor and a training psychoanalyst; I teach and mentor the younger generation in this incredible work of helping others understand the lives they live, navigate their own paths with confidence, and ultimately achieve a fulfilling life, a healthier body and a more balanced mind.
I am a Brazilian-American psychoanalyst with a deep understanding of the challenges, traumas, and consequences of social and cultural clashes that people experience while living in a foreign country.
In addition to English, I speak Portuguese.
Psychoanalysis delves deep into your questions in an attempt to free you from recurring, uncomfortable, and painful symptoms caused by trauma, unconscious fantasies, and outdated infantile defense mechanisms.
As children, we are unprepared to cope with the complexity, demands, and meanings of life. Our body and mind experience a variety of sensations, most of which are beyond our ability to comprehend.
Sexuality, aggression, loss, separation, violence, neglect, abuse, and even natural events like conception and birth can be overwhelming mysteries. These early life experiences may leave behind a trail of distressing fantasies, fears, and even psychosomatic disorders that wreak havoc on one’s adult life.
Psychoanalysis helps uncover these deep, often terrifying feelings and sensations, bringing them into adult consciousness so they can be reinterpreted through the lens of a more mature and healthier mind— allowing us to finally leave in the past what truly belongs to the past.
